We Asked AI for a Screen Recording. It Rewrote Our Product’s Code Instead.

Here’s what an offhand Slack message turned into.

Bodil asked Vincent a simple question: “can you make screen recordings with AI showing what the coach must demo in the platform? That would be cool!” Vincent took that exact message and handed it to his AI coding agent.

What came back wasn’t a screen recording with a voiceover bolted on afterward. It was an AI agent rewriting the platform’s live HTML, on the fly, to highlight features while it recorded itself doing it — then layering in an ElevenLabs voiceover through an API key Vincent had already given it.

As Bodil put it: “This was really wild actually!”

The impressive part isn’t that AI can narrate a demo. Plenty of tools do that. The impressive part is the method it chose. It didn’t record a static screen and add arrows or captions in post. It went into the product’s actual code and changed it to create the highlights, in real time, as part of the recording process itself.

“I think what made this really impressive is the change of code on the fly,” Bodil says. “You would never have done it like that without the AI engine.”

That’s an idea worth stealing! We’re used to thinking of AI as a writer of scripts or an editor of footage — something that works on the output. This was different: an agent that treated the live product itself as the material to manipulate, and landed on an approach no human producer would have bothered to invent.

The value wasn’t just what it made. It was how it decided to make it.
